FAQs
How do I know when a psychotherapist is right for me?
Most people get a sense of whether it’s a good match after one or two sessions. A couple of good questions to ask yourself after an initial session: “Did I feel understood and accepted?” and “Does this therapist seem like a caring and knowledgeable person?”
What fees do you charge for your services?
At the time of our initial contact we will decide on fees. I accept payment by check or cash, and payment is expected at the beginning of each session unless we make other arrangements. There are a limited number of reduced fee places available in my schedule.. Each session is usually 50 minutes long, although sometimes it may be more effective to have longer sessions, for example, with couples therapy or some EMDR sessions .
Do you take Insurance?
I no longer accept insurance. However, I am happy to provide detailed statements so that you can get reimbursed by your health insurance company or other resource.
How long does Psychotherapy last?
I provide both short-term and long-term psychotherapy.
The length of time you will be in therapy depends primarily on your goals and your life circumstances. Together we will determine your therapy goals in our initial sessions. Then we will review your progress periodically until you have reached your goals.
What is your cancellation policy?
When we begin working together we will find an appointment time that I will hold for you. If you must cancel an appointment you will need to notify me by telephone at least 24 hours in advance or you will be charged for the session.
How do I start psychotherapy?
You are most welcome to contact me for free to ask any questions or get more information to help you in making a decision to start therapy. If you choose to contact me by email, please remember that no one can guarantee confidentiality for any emails.
